Two Days in Bangkok — What to Do Without Wasting Time
Two Days Is Short, but Enough for the Essentials
Whether it's a stopover on the way to another destination or all the time you have in the city — two days let you see the main sites without rushing too much, if you plan well and don't try to cram too much into each day.
Day 1: The Historic Area
Early morning (before the heat) — the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, then Wat Pho (the reclining Buddha) right nearby. Afternoon — a boat on the Chao Phraya River to Wat Arun, and in the evening Chinatown (Yaowarat) for street food. The first two sites are close enough to walk between, saving time and money on taxis.
Worth arriving at the Grand Palace right at opening (8:30) — the crowds and heat increase significantly by noon, and the entrance line can get long.

If it's Friday-Sunday — Chatuchak Market in the morning (huge, worth a few hours). Otherwise — the Siam area for malls, then an evening on Khao San Road or in Sukhumvit for moderate nightlife.
Those who prefer something calmer for the second day can choose traditional Thai massage instead of shopping — there are many quality places in the Sukhumvit and Silom areas, and it's a pleasant way to end a short visit.
Tips for a Short Two Days
The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway are the fastest way between areas — much faster than a taxi in traffic. If continuing to another destination afterward, worth checking whether the relevant airport is Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) — they're not the same airport, and travel between them takes time.
If You Only Have One Night, Not Two Full Days
A single-night stopover (say, between connecting flights) — recommended to skip the Grand Palace (requires time and appropriate dress) and focus on one area close to the hotel: a good dinner, maybe a Thai massage, and sleep early before the next flight. Better less and quality than trying to cram the whole list into one night.
A hotel close to the Skytrain saves a lot of time in this situation — just a few stops can be the difference between managing a real meal and wasting the whole evening in traffic. Also worth checking in advance the travel time from the airport to the hotel, so as not to plan too much for that same day.
