Thailand in April

April is the hottest month of the year across most of Thailand, and includes Songkran (Thai New Year) — usually mid-month. Burning season in the north is still ongoing.

Weather by Region

The south is still dry (rain hasn't arrived yet), but very hot. The north continues to have smoke haze from burning season, combined with heavy heat.

Crowds and Prices

Songkran itself is its own peak period — flights and hotels fill up, especially around mid-month. Outside of Songkran, it's less crowded.

Events This Month

Songkran Festival — water fights across the country, usually April 13-15. Electronics need protection from water, and traffic can be intense in main celebration areas.
