Reverse Order: Start Quiet, End Lively
You can also reverse the order โ start with quiet Koh Tao (recover from the flight), continue to Koh Samui, and end at Koh Phangan if you want to be part of a Full Moon Party before the flight home. There's no single 'right' order โ depends whether you want to open or close with higher energy, and also depends on your return flight date.
Practically, the Koh Samui airport is the most convenient entry/exit point for all three islands โ so most travelers still start or end there, even if the middle order changes. The rainy season in the Gulf
In the Gulf of Thailand the rainy season is concentrated roughly at the end of the year, different from the Andaman. So a route that suits Phuket in summer may suit Samui in those same months. On many islands people rent a motorbike, but the roads on Koh Phangan and Samui are steep and sometimes slippery. Only those with experience and a suitable license should try it, and always wear a helmet. Travel insurance may not cover riding without a suitable license. Which attractions to combine on each island
On Samui you can visit the Big Buddha, waterfalls and the night market. On Koh Phangan there are waterfalls, yoga and quiet beaches, and on Koh Tao there is diving, snorkeling and viewpoints.
