Koh Samui is smaller than Phuket and feels less 'urban' — less traffic, more of a calm island atmosphere, with a strong concentration of luxury resorts in Chaweng and Bophut. Nightlife there (mainly in Chaweng) still exists but on a smaller scale than Patong in Phuket.
