Pai is a small mountain village in northern Thailand, very popular among backpackers for its mountain scenery, hot springs, and relaxed, alternative atmosphere. The road there (762 curves from Chiang Mai) is already part of the experience.

A hiking trail along narrow earth ridges with open views — most beautiful at sunrise or sunset.

A historic wood and bamboo bridge from the World War II era, a popular photo spot.
A small family farm built around a natural land split, with free fruit and homemade treats (donation-based).
A hilltop temple with panoramic views of the whole Pai valley — a climb of about 350 steps.
A waterfall with a natural rock slide, popular for swimming.
The village's main night market, street food, and handicrafts — Pai's social heart in the evening.
Practical tips
- •Those driving (not flying) should bring motion sickness pills — the road includes over 700 documented curves.
- •Renting a scooter is the most convenient way to see all the attractions around the village, which are spread over a few kilometers' radius.
- •Pai gets very crowded in tourist season (December-January) — worth booking lodging in advance during this period.
